Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find you?

HRRO is located at Wye Valley Court, Netherwood Road, Rotherwas Industrial Estate, Hereford, HR2 6JG. Please see the map at the bottom of this page for more details.

Are you open to everyone?

Yes absolutely - all welcome

Do you have parking?

Yes we have about 30 spaces but if we are full there is a free public carpark just at the end of Netherwood Road (not open on Saturdays)- about 100 metres away from us. Please don't park on the roads or on other business's property.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes - we have a ramp up to the front door, everything is level inside and we have an accessible toilet.

Can I get to you by public transport?

Yes - bus route 78X from the City Bus Station will bring you to Rotherwas and then it's a very short walk to us. Saturday route is slightly different and a slightly longer walk from the Saturday stop.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, we love to have visits from well behaved dogs on leads.

What were you called before?

Previously we traded as the Herefordshire Community Reuse and Recycling Group but have now rebranded to become Herefordshire Reuse and Recycling Organisation (HRRO) to coincide with our move to Rotherwas.

What are your opening hours?

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 3pm (last entry at 2.30pm).

Can I pay by card?

Yes we accept cash, card payment or bank transfers. We do not offer accounts or credit.

What is your exchange/refund policy?

All goods are second hand and are sold as seen - the buyer should inspect them carefully before buying. We are unable to give refunds or exchanges unless the goods have an unseen fault.

What items do you accept?

We accept a wide variety of household goods but in order to manage our stock we may restrict donations to specific items. We will advise here on our News page and on our Facebook page what we need at a particular time. Please click HERE to see a full list.

Can I drop my donations off?

Please check that we are accepting donations before bringing anything. We need to control stock carefully so may only be accepting specific items at times. We will also be operating an appointment system to avoid our volunteers being overwhelmed. We would prefer your donations to be in cardboard boxes or bags-for-life, rather than single use plastic bags or bin bags.

Can you collect furniture that I want to donate?

Yes we can within Herefordshire - but we can only accept furniture which we can reuse or resell so please email us photos of the items and we will advise if we can take them and arrange collection if so. We can only accept upholstered furniture that has the fire safety labels attached and mattresses must be clean and in very good condition.

Please note that we can only collect from the ground floor.

Do you deliver? If so, how much does it cost?

We can deliver locally within Herefordshire- we charge on a distance basis with delivery of one or two items within the city for £10 - rising to £25 for further flung locations. We can advise delivery costs and book them in at checkout.

Please note delivery is only available to the ground floor - we cannot take items upstairs.

You are also welcome to collect your items, or send a courier to collect from Wye Valley Court.

Can I donate electrical goods?

Yes if they are in working order. We have trained PAT testers and equipment so are able to test items in order to pass them on or sell them safely. We also test all microwaves for emissions.

Are you a charity?

We are currently a Community Interest Company (Herefordshire Community Environment Group) which is a not for profit organisation. Our accounts are published annually on the Companies House website - our company number is 12464088. We hope to gain charitable status in 2024.

Are you connected to any other groups?

No - we are a standalone group and no one else collects for us or represents us. We will always display our green banner at our drop offs.

What are your aims?

We have two aims:

1) To help Herefordshire reuse and recycle as many household goods as possible, keeping them out of landfill and protecting the environment.

2) To provide a source of affordable preloved items for those in need, either via Social Services referrals or to the general public via our shop.

Do you support a Charity?

Not specifically as we are delivering our own charitable aims - but we do support charities by passing donated goods to them - for example we regularly pass donated teddy bears to the Teddy Trust and toiletries and sleeping bags to the The Living Room. We also support several local housing and refuge charities.

What do you do with your profits?

We do not aim to make a profit. If there is any surplus after paying our running costs it will be reinvested in the business.

Can I volunteer?

Yes please! We are a friendly group and are always happy to have new volunteers join us - please email us at contactus@herefordreuseandrecycle.co.uk or pop in and have a word with us if you are interested. We are also now advertising our volunteer roles with HVOSS.

Can I do work experience with you?

Yes - we'd love to have you - please email contactus@herefordreuseandrecycle.co.uk or pop in and talk to us
