Volunteering Roles Available

Whilst we have specific volunteer roles available, if you think you can help out a different way, please still get in touch! We welcome all volunteers.
Donations
Sorting
Customers/
Till Duties

Our wonderful volunteers help to sort through donations that add to our stock, this can be anything from shoes to wardrobes. The role involves pricing items, deciding whether donations are of good enough quality to display and putting them out on the shelves. It can also be reserving items for our partners we support as well as items we donate to other groups which support our local community.

Delivery/
Collections

Volunteers that help with our deliveries and collections are just as crucial to the work that we do. They help with transferring stock from donations points, including our out of town drop offs, back to our recycling warehouse at Wye Valley Court. Volunteers may also assist with delivering items such as furniture that have been sold at our warehouse to our customer's homes. Although a driving licence is not essential it is beneficial for this role.

If you have been looking for volunteering opportunities in Hereford then you have come to the right place! HRRO provides a variety of volunteering options, which we hope suits a number of different preferences and skillsets. We have no set criteria for our volunteers and are completely flexible with time commitments. You are welcome to volunteer for a one off, an hour each week or as much as you'd like! We are all a friendly bunch and happy to answer any questions you might have about coming to support us, we are always appreciative of the help.

Why volunteer at HRRO?

We are inclusive and don't require our volunteers to have any specific experience or knowledge to help out.

There is no time commitment or expectation, it is totally up to you how regularly you volunteer, what time and when. If you want to come along and volunteer for a one off session that is great too!

Employers always look favourably on individuals who have been proactive and contributed to their community through volunteering. Not only is it a great boost for your CV, it also provides you with new skills that you can demonstrate you have learned through volunteering. Customer service, being organised, good communication and taking the initative are all strong soft skills to be able to showcase on your CV.

In a similar vein, we are able to provide references for our volunteers. This might be needed for work experience, employment applications of even a Duke of Edinburgh award.

If you are a sociable person and happy for a chat, this is probably the role for you! Our volunteers help with customers or on the till, assisting with processing customer purchases, answering any questions or showing people to what they are looking for.
